Actually...the "love life" excuse was a cover for the real reason Rand was written off. And frankly, the real reason was much, much worse than "Rand's interfering with Kirk's game."

So I've heard. (horrible!) But I'm sorry she left. I'm glad she was back in a few of the movies. I met Ms. Whitney in 1976 at a NYC Trek Convention, and she was wonderful.
